Year 7 homeschool curriculum

In Year 6, learners work with negative numbers, connect fractions, decimals and percentages, and use the order of operations. They convert between metric units, investigate angle relationships, compare data displays and express probabilities as numbers. Real-world contexts such as weather, shopping discounts and sport help bring these ideas to life.

In Year 6, students make deliberate grammatical choices, such as using active or passive voice to shape how information is presented. They analyse how persuasive texts are built to influence an audience and use Greek and Latin roots to understand and spell more sophisticated vocabulary. Students also explore a range of poetic forms, link ideas cohesively across paragraphs and edit their own writing with increasing independence, preparing them for the demands of secondary school.

In Year 6, students investigate how environmental conditions such as light, water and temperature affect the growth of living things. They classify changes to materials as reversible or irreversible, learn how earthquakes, volcanoes, bushfires and floods change Earth's surface, and build simple electric circuits. They design fair tests with controlled variables and repeated trials.
