Year 12 science

Year 12 science is usually studied as separate subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth and Environmental Science. These foundational topics build the core ideas and skills that senior courses rely on: how cells control what enters and leaves them, how atoms bond, how chemists count particles with the mole, how to describe motion with equations, and how Earth's spheres interact. Students practise quantitative reasoning, careful measurement and evaluation of data.

Curriculum notes

Australian Curriculum v9.0. The Australian Curriculum v9.0 covers Foundation to Year 10. Senior secondary study and certification are set by each state and territory authority (for example the HSC, VCE, QCE, WACE, SACE, TCE, ACT SSC and NTCET), each with its own science courses and syllabuses. These topics extend the v9.0 Science strands as foundational preparation only. They are not a senior course, are not endorsed by ACARA or any state or territory authority, and do not count towards any certificate.

These lessons were written around Australian Curriculum strands and matched to UK year groups by age (Year 1 is the year a child turns 6 in England). They are not mapped to the National Curriculum in England or the curricula of Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, so check them against your own plans.
