Is home education legal in the UK?
Yes. Home education is legal in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Parents are responsible for making sure their child receives a suitable education, and the rules on starting, deregistering from school and local authority enquiries differ between the four nations. Our guides for each nation link to the official guidance.

Homeschooling in the UK
How homeschooling works in the UK
Home education is legal across the UK. The rules differ between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and are set and overseen by local councils or education authorities.
In practice you choose your own approach and resources, deregister your child from school if they're enrolled (following the rules for your nation), and keep simple records in case your council asks how you're educating your child. Our guides for each nation walk through the steps and link to official guidance.

Our promises to families
Honest content
Every lesson and guide shows when it was created and whether it has been reviewed. We never claim our materials meet registration requirements.
Private by design
Children are nicknames and year levels β nothing more. No ads for children, no selling data, and you can delete everything at any time.
Healthy learning habits
No manipulative streaks or endless feeds. Short sessions, real-world activities and plenty of time away from screens.
Common questions
Do I need permission to home educate?
It depends where you live and whether your child is already at school. In Scotland you usually need the council's consent to withdraw a child from a state school; elsewhere the process is different. Check the guide for your nation before you deregister.
Is Success Homeschool really free?
Yes. The lesson library, lesson plan templates, timetable generator, resource directory, practice checks and parent dashboard are free.
Are the lessons based on the National Curriculum?
Not yet. Our lessons were written around Australian Curriculum strands and are matched to UK year groups by age. Home educators don't have to follow the National Curriculum, but check our lessons against your own plans. Every lesson shows its review status.
How do you protect my children's information?
Child profiles only need a nickname and year level. We never sell data, never show ads to children and never use behavioural advertising. You can export or permanently delete your family's data at any time.
I've never taught before. Can I still use this?
Absolutely. Every lesson includes plain-English explanations, worked examples, practice questions with an answer guide, common mistakes to watch for and tips written for parents rather than teachers.
