Year 11 homeschool curriculum
In Year 10, learners factorise quadratic expressions, solve quadratic and simultaneous equations, and use trigonometry to find unknown sides and angles in right-angled triangles. They model compound interest and depreciation, and develop geometric reasoning and proof. Statistics and probability extend to box plots, scatter plots and conditional probability, building a foundation for senior secondary mathematics.
Year 10 consolidates the analytical, persuasive and creative skills needed for senior English. Learners manipulate grammar deliberately for effect, analyse how narrative structure and perspective shape meaning, and build sophisticated arguments using appeals to credibility, emotion and logic. They also consider how context and values influence both the creation and reception of texts.
In Year 10, students learn how DNA and genes carry inherited information and how natural selection drives evolution. They use the periodic table to explain patterns in elements, investigate factors that affect reaction rates, explore the evidence for the Big Bang and Earth's global systems, and use Newton's laws to describe and predict motion. Investigations become more independent, with attention to error and uncertainty.
