Is homeschooling legal in Canada?
Yes. Homeschooling is legal in every province and territory. Education is a provincial responsibility, so there is no national homeschool law: each province and territory sets its own rules on notifying, planning and reporting. Our guide for each province and territory links to the official pages.

Homeschooling in Canada
How homeschooling works in Canada
Homeschooling is legal in every province and territory. Education is a provincial responsibility, so each one sets its own rules: some only ask you to notify them, while others expect an education plan, progress reports or an evaluation.
In practice you notify your province or territory (or your local school board or division) as its rules require, choose your own approach and resources, and keep records of learning. Some provinces also ask for a learning plan, progress reports or an evaluation, and a few offer funding. Our guide for each province and territory walks through the steps and links to official sources.

Common questions
Do I have to register my homeschool in Canada?
Most provinces and territories expect you to notify the ministry of education or your local school board or division, and some also ask for a learning plan, progress reports or an evaluation. The details differ a lot, so start with the guide for where you live.
Is Success Homeschool really free?
Yes. The lesson library, lesson plan templates, timetable generator, resource directory, practice checks and parent dashboard are free. Success Tutoring offers paid tutoring for families who want extra support, but the core platform stays free.
Are the lessons based on my province's curriculum?
Not yet. Our lessons were written around Australian Curriculum strands and are matched to Canadian grades by age. They're a helpful starting point, but check them against your province's learning outcomes and your own plans. Every lesson shows its review status.
I've never taught before. Can I still use this?
Absolutely. Every lesson includes plain-English explanations, worked examples, practice questions with an answer guide, common mistakes to watch for and tips written for parents rather than teachers.
